Travel Tale: Seattle & Vancouver, B.C. in Four Days, Part II

I was so happy to get such a great response from y’all about my Seattle post! Now, I am even more excited to have more to share even more Seattle/Vancouver, B.C., goodness! Today, I am going to be sharing all of the details about everywhere we ate.  If you haven’t checked out Part I of this series, you have to go check it out! There, I mention everywhere we went in between meals!

I’ve never identified as a foodie, mainly because I eat like a bird and have all the food sensitivities, but my travel history really makes it seem otherwise. Our stomachs were our guide for this trip and they did not lead us astray! The majority of our meals included some sort of seafood, which I loved. If you’e not a big fan of seafood there were plenty of other options, but the seafood was to die for! We went to a variety of locations, so if you choose to follow my guide, you’ll have plenty of options! I hope y’all enjoy!

WHAT TO EAT:

SEATTLE

.The Salmon Cooker.

The Salmon Cooker- After boarding a flight at 5:30 and traveling until mid-day, we were starving!  We stopped by the salmon cooker by accident (we meant to go somewhere else, ha), but were pleasantly surprised! Try the Fisherman’s Stew and The Cheesy Crab Bread for something quick!

.The Pink Door.

This was our romantic sit-down dinner of the trip! We went on a Friday and caught the sunset, but the real show is on Saturday! You need tickets instead of a reservation! I had the veggie lasagna and Miguel has the mussels.  I always hesitate to get  vegetarian plates (I’m a steak girl!), but the Lasagna was to die for! We also had the garlic fries as an appetizer- AMAZING!

AlyandtheValley_SeattleVancouverGuide43.jpgThis ended up being Miguel’s favorite breakfast spot of the entire trip! He’s a little less daring when it comes to food, so I ordered him an egg sandwich with cheddar cheese and ordered myself one with pesto.  I’m not sure who ate more of the pesto sandwich. The latte was delicious as was the French Press! Get there early! After 9, theres a line out the door and seating is comfy but limited!  Also, it’s hidden- UPSTAIRS! You’ll understand when you’re there!

.Duke’s Seafood & Chowder.

After our night at the casino, we  caught a sit down dinner by the fire place at Duke’s.  We both got the crab cakes and the famous clam chowder. I HIGHLY recommend. My favorite part was the fish-shaped plates. All about a detail, haha!

.The Crumpet Shop.

AlyandtheValley_SeattleVancouverGuide15.jpgThis was my favorite breakfast in the city! I was tempted by a “life-changing” crumpet and I am here to confess that “My life has changed!” Nicknamed the “life changer,” the crumpet topped with maple butter, cream cheese, and walnuts was absolutely delicious.  Another instance where I was not the only person eating my breakfast, haha.

.The Original Starbucks.

AlyandtheValley_SeattleVancouverGuide19.jpgI went to the first Starbucks twice when I was in Seattle!  Lucky me!  Don’t make my mistake, the real first Starbucks is at 1912 Pike’s Place and one that looks like it could be the first Starbucks is on 1st and Pike Street.  Both are so cute, so I would definitely visit both and get the souvenir cups (they’re different)! We went right before sunset and there was a TINY line! This is rare. The line is usually out the door and around the corner! We were seriously so lucky this entire trip! The baristas at the original Starbucks were so sweet and wrote us a sweet anniversary message on our coffee cups! (That we threw away and I’m dying right now.  That’s what happens when you live in the moment, ha). I got coffee beans for my parents at the original Starbucks, and after sharing a few cups with them, I am not disappointed!

.The Crab Pot.

AlyandtheValley_SeattleVancouverGuide4.jpgWe intended to go to the Crab Pot for our quick ‘second lunch’ the day we arrived. I’m really glad we messed up because this place was worthy of it’s own meal.  We got the Crab X Crab X Crab to share and hammered and cracked to our stomach’s content! I had never had Dungeness crab before and it was delicious! If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, I highly recommend this restaurant! I had also never been given a hammer and bib at the same restaurant, I had allll the fun!

.Biscuit Bitch.

Our last meal was probably one of the dirtiest meals I’ve ever consumed in my life.  This was a small restaurant, but it’s a quick stop.  I ordered a Mexican Mocha- CAUTION this is searing hot and smells SO GOOD- you will burn your tongue! To eat, we both got the ‘Hot Mess Bitch.’  I ordered mine without grits because I’ve never really been a fan.  This biscuit had eggs, cheese, jalapeño sausage layered on top of a delicious biscuit! I highly recommend you stop here and try it! Even if it’s the last meal you eat!

Vancouver, B.C.

.A La Mode Pie.

We went to Granville Island in Vancouver and tried to eat as much has possible! We shared a hot beef stew and fresh lemonade.  To get to the stew we had to crack the pie crust with a spoon, and once we did the steam and aroma that rose from the decorative bowl was enchanting! I highly recommend sharing! We were more than full! The view from the outdoor eating area was beautiful! We took this picture right after we finished eating!

.Bon Macaron.

There was such a great variety of macarons, I was sad when we decided the box of 6 was the best choice.  Our favorite was the dulce de leche…you can take Aly out of the valley, but you can’t take the valley out of Aly!

I am a little sad to see this trip come to a close on the blog.  I can’t wait until we head back! There was so much more to do (check out the woulda’ coulda’ shoulda’ section of Part I) and I feel like it’d be a mistake to never go back.  I hear that it is also wonderful during the summer and that’s perfect for this school SLP (summers off are a REAL perk for vacation time!). I hope that y’all enjoyed this travel tale! If there is anything else that you’re wanting to know just let me know in the comments below! Have a wonderful week, friends!

  2. Heck, I have a gastrointestinal disease, but my stomach seems to always be my guide during a trip to a new place. It’s just one of the best parts of visiting somewhere brand new! Love all these locations. They sound so yummy!
