Valentine’s Day Ideas

Hello, lovelies! Aren’t these pictures the cutest?! I was so lucky to win a photoshoot at Memory Lane Photo Spot with the fabulous owner, Mandie! I originally wanted to take my bridal portraits and engagement pictures here, but kept having scheduling conflicts. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I found out the good news!  I loved the Valentine’s decor featured this season! If you haven’t gotten a chance, you should pay Memory Lane Photo Spot’s facebook page visit for more inspiration!

My favorite photo spot was definitely the tandem bike! That thing was wayyy harder to use than I thought it would be!  Luckily, Miguel knew what he was doing! This is definitely not the kind of thing that my husband says ‘yes’ to (he likes life behind the camera), but he’s such a great sport and so supportive that these pictures are going to be some of my favorites for years to come!

I’m not sure if it’s just because this will be my first married Valentine’s Day or if I’m just excited about these pictures, but I am so excited for Valentine’s Day! For me, it’s not all about my significant other- I also like to celebrate my parents, siblings, and niece on this day.  It’s so easy to live every day like there are a million ahead of it, and I take v-day to make sure that my family members KNOW that I love them!

I’m going to share a few more pictures, but I am also going to share some v-day (v-day week/weekend?!) ideas with y’all! Here we go!

  1. Cook a Favorite Meal- Miguel and I loved Johnny Carinos! Obsessive love. Every date was there, love. Until, they closed down the Pharr location. Tragic. So, for our first engaged Valentine’s Day (and the first in our future home) we recreated our favorite meal The Bowtie Festival! It was ah-mazing and made us nostalgic for Valentine’s Days past! Make a meal with a memory, it’s fun to laugh at/with each other in the kitchen!
  2. Favorite Movie Marathon- This is definitely one for a family or Gal-entine’s day celebration! Everyone brings their favorite movie- you can get theme specific (romance only!) OR non-specific on this one! Another fun addition? Bring your favorite movie snack. Question: Do you eat your popcorn with melted cheese?! I do, but it just occurred to me recently that not everyone does! Let me know! I’m v curious!
  3. Couple’s Massage/Spa Day- I am always wanting a massage. I think this will be the direction we go this V-day!  We’ve never done a couple massage, but in my head it’s uber romantic and ridiculously relaxing. Have you ever done a couple massage?!
  4. Drive-Thru Movies- We have a local drive-thru theater that I don’t use often enough! They always feature two movies and have plenty of snacks nearby.  I’m not sure what they’re showing yet, but it may be fun to head out there with some girlfriends on V-day weekend to giggle at some romantic comedies and eat without concern for calories! Valentine’s Day is a day for chocolate!
  5. Try Something New- Top Golf opened so long ago and I still haven’t been.  I can totally see my husband and I looking back and laughing at my horrible golf swing from “that one Valentine’s Day” in the future! Trying new things together always makes for the best memories!
  6. Take a Picture and Print it Out- Finally, make sure you take a picture. I’d be lying if I said that this is V-day specific advice.  It’s not.  With phones in our hands and the ability to change a picture background every day, it’s easy to overlook how wonderful it is to hold a physical picture in your hand and to watch it fade over time. Maybe that’s just me. Maybe it’ll be even more fun to write a memory on the back of the picture, but I don’t think you’ll have to. You’ll remember when you hold it in your hand!

I hope y’all got some great ideas for Valentine’s Day celebrations.  I also really hope you check out Memory Lane Photo Spot! The photoshoot experience itself is a lot of fun! Happy Friday, y’all!
