Being back to school has been going pretty smoothly, so far. I can feel the year gearing up though as the students return today!! With all of the traveling my husband and I did this summer, we haven’t been doing a lot of date nights. So, I was surprised when we actually made it out to dinner a few nights ago. These two things got me thinking about how busy life gets and how important it is to wear clothes that can be adjusted for whatever the day has to offer. Which brings this post on transitioning from work to date night!
I think it’d be redundant to share (again!) how much love I have for my white camisole from target. I’m the weirdest about basic pieces. I hesitate to purchase them because I always think of how I could be investing in something so much more unique. Then, when I’m trying to put together an outfit at a moment’s notice, I’m scrambling because every piece of clothing I own is SO specific. It’s a silly thought process because I’ve been finding myself wanting to wear that darn white camisole every day of the work week and on the weekend! It just goes with everything!
As far as transitioning from work to date night, I think simple outfit changes are the most important. One could say that this outfit already works for date night since it’s a pretty casual look (in a more formal work environment I’d wear a cardigan or blazer!), but I think it’s fun to show a little more skin than I am able to do at work! I was already wearing fun espadrilles, but if I had been wearing flats, changing into a heel is a fun way to make an outfit more suitable for date night!
The hardest part about making plans during the work week is convincing myself to go after a long day at work. While I’d love to be the girl that can shower, blow dry my hair, and get ready in an hour’s time before an evening event, that’s just not my style and it probably never will be (Unless Dyson wants to sponsor me. Maybe then there’s a chance). If “getting ready” only means slipping off a cardigan or jean jacket and strapping on a heel, then I think I’ll find myself more convinced.
While I’m only hoping this school year holds a lot more date nights for me and my hubs, I am already sure of one more exciting thing this year has in store for me! On Saturday, August 24, I will be taking over the @thergvmatters instagram page! I love what this organization stands for and how it promotes the best the Rio Grande Valley has to offer! Follow them now, so you don’t miss a moment of my takeover. I hope y’all have a great week ahead of you!
