From Desk to Dinner Date

Hello, lovelies!  In 2019, I want it all. I want to have the the family, the job, the blog, and the date nights.  For some reason, making time for dinner dates with Miguel (or my friends & family) has become so much harder post-wedding.  That’s why today I am sharing how I take my look from ‘school-based SLP’ to ‘my husband’s lovely wife.’

I try my very best to actually style my hair when I know I want my outfit to transition well into the evening. My T3 curling iron (November’s non-published ‘splurge of the month,’ oops. Now, you know!) has been a game changer for making quick waves in the morning. I also keep my make-up neutral enough to be slightly altered in the evening

The key detail of transitioning an outfit, in my opinion, is keeping things neutral. I saw this camel-colored blouse at Ann Taylor and picked it up as fast as possible.  It’s no longer available, but I literally linked 6 similar versions for you to shop above!  I really love this camel color because it’s light during the day, but can be very classy when paired with black in the evening…Check it out!

How many changes can you find? If you found 4, you got ’em all! 4 tiny changes took me from day-to-night! Here they are:

1. I put on the perfect berry lipstick . I’ve worn this shade since undergrad. It was the first dark lipstick I ever owned, and for a few months, I would wear a more neutral shade over it, but now I wear it on its own as soon as Pumpkin Spice Lattes hit Starbucks! IMG_2762.jpg

2. I lengthened my necklace. That’s right, you heard me! I lengthened it! Maybe it’s just me, but a high neck with a long floating pendant necklace is much more sophisticated than a choker! Kendra Scott has mastered the adjustable necklace.  Mine is from the winter 2017 collection, so obvi these necklaces are worth the investment! 3. Heels. Heels literally elevate every outfit. But you knew that, haha! While I was fortunate enough to be gifted these designer shoes for Christmas (Thank you, Rolly!), I’m going to let you in on a little, HUGE secret.  I’ve found a wonderful designer on Amazon that makes the BEST designer dupes.  (This probably needs to be a whole post. Lemme know if you’re interested!) I’m a fan of a good dupe. Not a knock-off, but a dupe. These shoes, designer or dupe, are KILLER.IMG_2804.jpgIMG_2719.jpg

4. Leather Leggings. I am SO devastated to know that my $20 BP leather leggings are no longer made or sold, or I don’t even know. Too crushed to know for sure, which leads me to lead you in the direction of the SPANX leather legging. There is a sexy stirrup leather legging linked above that I may purchase, BUT the ULTIMATE leather legging is the SPANX LEGGING. These have a cult following, but a steep price tag.  I WILL make these a ‘splurge of the month’ eventually BECAUSE LOOK at what leather leggings did for my outfit! They totally sealed the deal. With leather leggings, this outfit is no longer work appropriate, but trendy restaurant appropriate.. If for some reason I could have only changed one thing about my outfit before dinner, I’d pick the leggings, every time.
