Trend Tuesday: Shackets

Hello, friends! How goes it! I am currently in recover from the most rough night I’ve had in a long while- I got 0 sleep, but part of the reason I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about getting this post together for y’all! There are two words that I added to my vocabulary this past year. “Coatigan” and “Shacket” are two winter trends that have been so popular. Y’all know how I feel about a trend- I’m always hesitant. Amazon started to haunt me with a cute pink shacket, so I took it as a sign to buy it!

What is a Shacket?

Obviously, we are combining words to name new clothing pieces and the “shacket” is the combination of a shirt and jacket. I think it’s funny how we keep re-inventing things, but I guess it keeps things  interesting.

I’m sad to remind y’all that when I got this piece in, I found out that it was actually from SHEIN. Not that there’s anything wrong with SHEIN- I love shopping there and have been thinking of doing a haul soon. The reason why I was a little alarmed by the tag saying SHEIN is because I was worried that I may have missed out on a good deal! I was SOOOO happy when I saw the it was actually the same price when you added shipping! Phew! The pink option is no longer available at SHEIN, but they do have another similar one that I’ll link below.

What’s the Hype?

This was my honest question. I’ve never considered myself a trend follower because 1. I like to play it safe and 2. a lot of trends ain’t all that. Strappy sandals? Yes, so cute (and I may buy), but I know they’ll be uncomfortable on my wide feet. When I thought of shackets, I thought “hot,” “unnecessary,” and bulky.

What I found was that this shacket was actually cozy! I wore it for WFH and it gave me that comfortable feeling that lounge wear gives, but with a fun pop of color. It did feel very 90s, which is not how I dressed it up. Honest truth, I have regrets about the shoes I wore with this outfit, but I’ve been wearing my combat boots so much, I’m trying to change it up.  It looks totally fine though, and gives you some more outfit inpso!

I kept my look simple with a spaghetti strap camisole from Express. I think it would also pair so cute with a simple dress (which I just purchased!) and some sneakers.

Have you already tried the shacket or coatigan trend? How do you feel about them? Thanks for reading, friends!

Aly
