Fit Girl Status: Trying Trybe Cycle

If you don’t recall, I was trying out a series of fitness studios before the Christmas break. I tried an aerial class, a couple of cycling classes, and now, a few weeks later, I tried a mixed fitness studio (not really sure how to describe it any better than this)! I’ve always enjoyed trying out different work out classes, and have a tendency to hop around since the majority of these locations are more than 10 minutes from my home. Working out is not something that come easy to me, so a LONGER drive (10 minutes isn’t even that bad, I KNOW, but I’m just being honest) kind of discourages me. Regardless, I’ve had a blast trying out new places and know that y’all are interested in trying new spots too. Going to a new studio can be intimidating if you don’t know what to do, so I’m here to walk you through my first visits at new-to-me spots!

Trybe Cycle is, I think, the newest cycling studio in the central RGV. It’s off of 10th street and is pretty easy to get to. I got to visit when there were a TON of community rides being offered. A community ride is what they call a class that is being used for the purpose of training new instructors. The best part is that we, the community, get to enjoy this class FOR FREE!!! Can I get a, “YAAAAAS?!” I didn’t feel like the community rides affected the quality of the ride on both occasions that I went! In fact, these rides are some of the BEST cycling classes I’ve ever been to! The staff is always growing at TRYBE to accommodate the growing number of attendants, so if you follow on them on instagram and notice that they are talking about community rides- SWIPE UP and enjoy your free ride!

IMG_5553When I got to the studio I was greeted by the happiest faces! For me, this moment sets the entire mood for what I think about the studio. Sometimes, no one is there to tend to people as they arrive and it’s discouraging to someone who is already stepping out of their comfort zone. Not here! Smiling faces and even a guess as to who I was! Once I got checked in they offered me a shoe rental, which I took! They have a cute little shop where you can purchase your own pair. You can also get some cute clothing!

IMG_5560After I got checked in, I made a trip to the RR to fix my hair  and found that it was fully stocked with everything a girl could need! Ponytail holders, lotions, air spray, feminine products and anything else you could think of!  This is such a nice detail! Right before class started, I locked up all of my personal items in the lockers they have there that are HUGE! I was able to fit my whole Lululemon tote in it with no problems!

The class itself was so ENERGETIC! I had never taken a cycling class that had “choreography” built into the class. Usually choreography consists of going up and down for certain parts of a song and that’s pretty much it. These classes had shifting of the hips, arm placement changes, and then topped it all off with pretty light weights for arms! So many of y’all asked me if the class was hard and the answer is: yes! Is it so hard that I don’t want to try it again? (this is a thing for me…remember, I hate working out) NO! I have gone twice and I am dying to have the time to go back! I felt so refreshed after class- totally ehausted, but refreshed in the sense that I got through something so physically taxing that my brain rested IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE! It’s such a good feeling!

Now, let’s talk about this outfit! I shared this look a few weeks ago, but if you missed that post, I’m happy to reiterate!  The leggings I’m wearing are the colorful koala splinter camo in the dark grey. I heard great things about these leggings and have not been disappointed! I had to wait to snag them in the regular camo, but I they were worth the wait! These leggings are soft and rival my favorite Lululemon leggings. My tank is from Lululemon and is my favorite workout top! I need to stock up on more of these when they go on sale!

Working out may be one of my least favorite activities, but I know that it’s one of the most important habits that I can adopt while I’m still (kind of) young. I talked about not having time to go back earlier in this post, and that is a phrase I need to (and I recommend you do) replace with “I don’t want to” and evaluate if it still holds true. Do I not have time or do I not want to…we make time to eat, we make time to see friends and we make time to cuddle up in bed and binge watch the latest season of Grace and Frankie and Cheer in one weekend! Anyone else? Haha! So even though I’ve been at a loss for deciding on goals for the new year, making time for fitness is one that I feel should be in the mix! What fitness goals do you have this year? Happy Thursday!
