Dressing for a Warmer Fall

I think I’ve mentioned it a few hundred times- it’s still hot here in the RGV and it looks like it’s going to stay that way for the next few months or so.  As much as I love complaining and wishing for cooler weather, I (very many of you) have to accept the fact that the heat defines our Texas falls. That’s why I figured I’d talk about how I am going to chose to dress up for a warmer fall or “eternal summer” as my blog tagline suggests! Haha! AlyandtheValley_WarmerFall67.jpg

1. Wear Dresses: While this may seem like a basic piece of information, it may not be something you think of right away. I’ve been wearing a lot of dresses to give myself the opportunity to layer with a cardigan. Since wearing a dress gives the same benefits  of wearing shorts, I get to stay fresh and maybe even wear some booties. If I’m being honest though, it’s cardigans, denim jacket, OR booties for me. It’s still too hot to do both at the same time!

While, I love a riding boot, I reserve them only for the coldest days of winter. A bootie instantly gives any look a “fall” vibe!  I also think that peep-toe booties, like these, are extremely helpful because I don’t have to wear socks. Bonus: you get to show off that cute pedicure you’ve had to maintain because sandal season is still her.

I alway  love jewel tones for the fall for a more romantic look (fuchsias, teal, mustard (again), and emerald). I feel like the top colors I mentioned are more neutral and the bottom are for my friends that wear hot pink all year! It’s me. I wear hot pink all year.

4. Animal Print: Snakeskin is the print of the season and with good reason. I have posts devoted to my love of leopard print (here, here and here) and haven’t secured snakeskin anything, but it’s on my list! I honestly don’t know what it is or why I associate animal prints with fall, but they just look soo good with fall colors that they go hand in hand!

EVEN though it took me almost a year to figure out an outfit to wear with it, I think it’s the perfect fall accessory! Now, I love a scarf (which actually is the perfect fall accessory, but it’s too hot for that!!!!), but a hat gives so many options and looks gorgeous with beachy waves OR a messy bun! I wish I could wear this hat to work because I definitely want to use it on those days I’m not feeling a hairdo!

Those are my 5 tips for dressing for a warmer fall! I hope you enjoyed them and am really wondering if you have to dress for a warmer fall or if you’re already enjoying booties, scarves, and hats ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Happy Tuesday, lovelies!
