Aly and the One Year Anni

I did it! I am exhausted writing this post after an eventful weekend, but I’ve done it! It’s done! I have, by some people’s measures, blogged for one year successfully! I have been reminded via photos from a year ago of the big big dream I had. I have had dreams of blogging  for years, but never had the confidence to do it. I thought of it all the time and always felt that it was something that I didn’t deserve to do, in a sense. I’m so happy that I changed my mind, and why I changed my mind will be revealed to you below!

For my first blogging anniversary, I asked y’all to submit questions that you wanted me to answer. I got some great ones, some interesting ones, and some hilarious ones (that might’ve been from my husband asking what was for dinner and good friends asking which of them was my favorite)! I love the lighthearted nature of my blog and appreciate all the questions! If this is the first post you read on my site, WELCOME! If you’ve been hanging out for a year, WOW! I cannot thank you enough!

What sets your soul on fire?

If you had asked me this question 4 years ago, it would’ve been dance. Now, since I don’t perform anymore (I danced from ages 3-22), I think  I would describe it as the thing that dancing made me feel. Performing for others gave me the opportunity to serve as entertainment or inspiration for others and I LOVED that feeling. Now, through my blog I love being able to serve my friends and “followers” (aka my friends) by giving them advice based on my personal experiences. I hate making mistakes because learning from them is hard (in big life things and minor life things like a bad skincare item), so through my blog I get to SERVE you all by not allowing you to make my mistakes or not having to struggle the way I have sometimes. Is that too deep for a first question? Haha!

What inspired you to start blogging?

Similar to what I said above AND I’ve always loved reading blogs. I loved it because it’s like girl talk in 600 words or less. I’m the type of person who gets a million POVs on a subject before making a decision, so I felt like my point of view was worth sharing. Maybe, for someone, I’m the POV that helps them figure something out.

How has your life changed since becoming a dog mom?

I have to change my clothes a lot. I stop in the pet aisle and actually have babies to shop for! I’m learning how to share my love with two very needy boys. Oh, and I go out and walk more often. Dogs are good for your health, it’s science.

What degrees do you have and from what schools?

I’m VERY  proud to answer this question. I attended Kilgore College (to dance as a World Famous Kilgore Rangerette). While there I received my Associate of Arts in Speech (like giving speeches. I think this is why I love insta stories!!!).

After completing my time in Kilgore, I attended the University of Texas at Austin (because I made the Pom Squad AND HOOK ‘EM!) and received my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I am so proud of this degree. I never thought I’d be able to attend and graduate (with high honors) from such an incredible school. What started there, CHANGED MY WORLD!

I then went straight into graduate school to become a Speech Pathologist at the University of Texas-Pan American. Here, I was a member of the final graduating class of Broncs and received my Master of Science in Communication Disorders in 2015.

Where will you travel to next?

I REALLY want to go to Europe, but I know that is a HUGE financial commitment. I am headed to Austin for sure in October and maybe San Antonio in November. Keeping it local for now, but hopefully I make some bigger plans soon!

When are your children coming?

Sooner or Later. Looking sooner every day! Not pregnant! But my cases of baby fever are getting harder to get over!

What is your favorite fall baking/cookie recipe?

You’ll be getting this recipe this fall for sure! I really want to incorporate more food into the blog! What do you think?

I hope y’all enjoyed my Q & A session to celebrate my first year of blogging! There is a whole lot of other things I want to share with y’all, but my heart is seriously bursting with so much happiness. I would not be able to continue to publish to my little corner of the internet if it weren’t for how wonderful I think you all are for reading it. Thank you so much, from the frizzy haired girl with big eyebrows who loves studs, pearls, and living a colorful life. I love you all!
