Splurge of the Month: Clear Handbag

I cannot believe we are in the second half of March!  Our anniversary was absolutely wonderful and our anniversary trip was very much needed (more on that later!)! We still have my niece and my brother-in-law’s birthdays to celebrate this month (on the same day!), my long-distance bestie’s birthday on the 27th, and a baby shower, so there’s still plenty to celebrate this month!

This month’s splurge of the month has been something that I’ve been eyeing in different forms for a few months! The thought of a clear, plastic purse that doesn’t hide my most precious belongings (aka iPhone and sunglasses…oh and money and stuff) didn’t exactly convince me. Then, I saw this (unavailable. sad .but this one IS available) gorgeous Zac Posen version, and I was in love. The insert is perfect, but still allows for clear purse effect.

A local boutique, Oh Kay’s, has had the most gorgeous selection of clear handbags the past few months. When they showed off my bag (above) on their instagram, I messaged them and got the details. Now, $90 is definitely not a HUGE splurge (I’ve done worse), but I’ve started saving for our summer vacations (oh, and a car). To me a “splurge” is also defined when I ask the question, “want or need?” Clear Handbag? Definite Want (but a NEED for my closet! Haha!).

I actually got to use this beauty during our trip to Seattle. It was so good on a trip, and actually kept me from carrying things I didn’t need. The best part of this bag was that it was also small enough to fit in my LV Neverfull (my go-to travel purse) and allowed me to put important items (our passports, my wallet/card case, and cash) inside for safe keeping. I also loved the peek-a-boo effect I was able to achieve with my sunglasses! Seeing my gold sunnies behind the gold studs was really special. I can’t wait to try with different styles come spring and summer!

Another great feature about this bag was the multiple ways to hold it. I used the double chain straps, the clear handle, and a crossbody or shoulder strap. Sometimes the versatility of a clothing item really helps me justify the purchase.  It may seem silly, but it’s actually a great rule of thumb for all pieces of clothing! 3 ways to wear? SOLD!

I also just want to touch on these shoes for a second! My blogger friend, Maggie from Our Style In Progress  has been rocking this style from Steve Madden for the past few months. Recently, I’ve been keeping my eye on these shoes, waiting for the perfect sale (or pay day) to snatch them up, and then I found them for $22 at TJMaxx. Coincidence? I think NOT! I was hesitant about the slip-on heel, but they’ve been no trouble at all. Sandal season is pretty much here in the RGV, and I feel alive!

Well, that’s all for today folks! If this is your first day back to work post-spring break, I hope you kill, are killing, or killed it! Treat yo-self to a latte, an Arnold Palmer, or a glass of wine. I say, you deserve it! Happy Monday, friends!
