Updating My Summer Wardrobe

Good morning, babes! I am currently blogging beachside at South Padre Island! If you follow me on instagram, you know I’ve been here for a few days now and have been enjoying my first beach days for the summer. As the days have been getting hotter, (ex. the entire RGV was under a heat advisory for 119 degree heat #casual) I have been taking stock of my summer wardrobe and picking up anything else I need for Cancun! To share in my excitement, I’ll be sharing with you the pieces I think will be vital to my summer wardrobe!

Tops

My main priority in the summer is to not be hot. Original, I know. With that being said, I am so loving wearing camisoles right now.  I love that you can dress them up or dress them down and can’t wait to start wearing them with bralettes! My favorite bralette is definitely the Free People’s Adella bralette (pictured below with yellow romper), but I found a similar version (pictured below with periwinkle tank) on amazon for under $10 (If you’re a babe on a budget, you are clicking “add to cart” RIGHT NOW!)! A bralette beats wearing a regular bra in the summer 10,000%. A few other favorites, if you haven’t noticed, are wearing graphic tees. If I’m running around, these are the best things to wear. Bottoms

Now, we’ve already spoken about a winning pair of denim (above) this year, but have we talked about paper bag pants? The answer is: no. Because I didn’t have a pair up until a few days ago. I’ve been searching for the perfect pair and found them at my local Ross! Love a good find! I linked several similar pairs!

Accessories

I love accessories! especially during the summer time! Everything is so much more fun and colorful, and I am so excited to share my favorite new piece with y’all today (officially!) This bag (below) has been on trend for a few years now and I stopped myself from buying it every single time I was tempted because “want not need.” When I came across this version, I was a sold! It has a palm print insert to put important items, (medications, tickets, credit cards, etc.) so I no longer have to worry about the possibility of anything slipping through the cutest little cracks! I’ve also included the heart sunglasses, y’all have been LOVING on instagram AND my favorite beach bags!

Shoes

Shoes are my favorite thing in the world and updating my sandals for the spring and summer is my favorite! I am currently still updating this post, but am going to share my most recent favorites here! I have the studded flip-flops (pictured above) in black already but have enjoyed having them in pink/nude for the past few days! They’ll probably both go everywhere with me in Cancun! The studded wedges (pictured below; I also have a gold version from last year!) are the best heel addition I’ve made to my summer closet! They make every outfit better! 

Dresses & Rompers

Another way I like to keep cool is  by wearing sundresses and rompers! I am linking some of the dresses I’ll be wearing in Cancun (lucky you!), a romper similar to the one I’m wearing for my b-day, and some old favorites I’ve had on repeat!

Swimmies & Cover-ups

I ALMOST WAITED to add this section because I’m thinking about doing a beach vacation packing post before I leave to Cancun, but decided not to! I finally found the perfect suit for me! I’m not feeling bikinis right now, but have never been able to wear one pieces because of my long torso (even when I was at my most fit and slim size, a size large did not work for me!) A ‘monokini’ with a cut out in the front (not the back) is exactly what I’ll be wearing this summer! I think the cut out allows for the extra bit of length I need! I love that my friends also thought most pieces were bikinis! Still gonna get this tummy tanned!  This blue floral swimmie was my favorite from my honeymoon (pictured below) and y’all’s favorite on instagram when I wore it last weekend (it’s also the one pictured above!). It follows the monokini trend with a smaller cut out and a low back! So cute! 

Well, that’s my summer clothing round-up! I have been planning it for the last week and a half and am so glad I got it out to y’all before June ends (Sidebar: June is over in two weeks, haha)!
